Welcome to the Greer Farm, a unique rural haven
tucked away from the stresses of urban America. We
are pleased that you have chosen to visit us.
Located near Daingerfield, Texas, the farm consists
of lush pastures and towering pine trees and
hardwoods nestled in the slow moving world of
Northeast Texas. Here, we raise hay, fruit and
berries, vegetables, flowers, pine timber and
fullblood red and white Maine-Anjou cattle.
Our cattle eat only fresh grass forages and hay. No
grain unless you request it! We believe grass
finishing is better for the cattle and better for the
consumer. If you are interested in purchasing some of
our grassfed beef please go to our
Maine-Anjou page
or contact us directly. We are taking orders for
fall 2009 at this time.
In 2005 we planted a berry and fruit orchard with
blueberries, blackberries, figs, and plums. 2009 will
be our fourth season at
Greer Farm
Pick Your Own. We welcome you to come out or
call and see what we have available.
Blackberries ripen starting in late May,
blueberries in early June, and everything else
shortly thereafter. Pre-picked berries are
available in season. The berry season ends in
late July and figs last through August.
We offer a farm stay unlike any other. Come and
experience life on a working farm and ranch while
staying in one of our
four luxury log cabins
or in the
Hide-A-Way Loft. See
what life on a farm is really about! Wander
through our forest trails, enjoy bird watching
or fish for bass and catfish in our lake.
Arrange for a meal cooked by Chef Eva.
Chef Eva offers
some of the
best cuisine in this part of Texas, prepared
and served with the utmost attention to detail.
With the chef's international background, big
city training and small town hospitality you are
certain to have a meal to remember. Lunch and
dinner menus are available for groups by prior
arrangement. Occasionally, she prepares special
dinners for smaller groups or for special
occasions like anniversaries.
Chef Eva also offers a
monthly cooking
class here at the farm. In addition to
scheduled classes, arrangements can be made for
special group classes.
The Greer Farm has a unique retail
special order
nursery. We do not stock many plants and
trees nor do we deal in the normal annual plants
you can buy at discount stores. We have planted
a diverse selection of unique plants, many
native to Texas, that give a different balance,
texture and color scheme to your garden. Our
display gardens let you see our plants in a
natural environment. We can work with you to
find the right plants for your home. Please see
the
photo album for
examples of the hundreds of different plants to
which we have access.
We think we have a unique farm with some different
approaches to making a living off the land. From our
circa 1850 restored Texas Planters home to the log
cabins, barns and share cropper buildings from the
old plantation, we have tried to maintain the
integrity of this land for future generations. The
management of our forest has taken into consideration
the aesthetics of the land as much as possible. On
our farm, we practice sustainable agriculture
techniques striving to improve the land. When you
visit us we can show you what we have accomplished.
We invite you to visit us to pick some berries in the
summer, see our cattle and nursery-gardens, or stay
with us for a unique farm stay. Please feel free to
contact us.
Thanks for visiting our website and supporting our
family farm.
